 Difference between ITHIKAS & Puranas!

Itikas are Ramayana and Mahabharatha.

Puranas are eighteen in numbers.

What is the difference between Itikas and Puranas?

Itikas have been written when the incidents were going on.

That means, Itikas are LIVE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE EVENTS THAT WERE HAPPENING.

For example, Ramayana and Mahabharatha were written stage by stage when the incidents were happening.

Valmiki and Vyasa were writing them from their ashrams LIVE.

What about Puranas?

They have been written as stories and backgrounds as heard versions.

Puranas are like story telling.

They were written so as to equip the people of three gunas dominations, to stage by stage come to the Satva guna Puranas like Vishnu Purana, Srimad Bhagavatham, etc.

So what?

That is why, Itikas are more authoritative than Puranas.

We have seen some different versions of incidents in puranas that slightly differ from the same incidents in Itikas.

When the incidents are described as stories on a later period, say, even centuries after the Itikas, there can be some differences.

That is why, there are slight differences in puranas about the departure of Krishna from earth.

Therefore, when there is any dispute about any incident/ lila, the version of Itikas are to be considered as Original.

This is the clear message to all about the superiority of Itikas over Puranas.

This message is final and backed by the facts.
